Description
South African Honeybush (Loose Leaf) is considered the “sister” to rooibos (red tea), and is similarly high in antioxidants. Honeybush, named after the smell of its flowers, grows only in small areas of South Africa and has many similarities with the more commonly known Rooibos plant. The tea brewed from the honeybush plant is known for its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.
Honeybush leaves brew to a deep red color in 3-4 minutes and make a sweet, smooth, fruity, tea that can be enjoyed by adults and children alike. Unlike tea prepared from the tea bush Camellia sinensis (most white, green, oolong and black teas), honeybush tea does not turn bitter with longer simmering, and it does not contain any caffeine. Great taste, ideal hot or chilled as an iced tea infusion.
